Mixer: Bruce Finkelman Last year we asked the owner of the Empty Bottle, Bruce Finkelman, to make a mix and he displayed his fervent belief in democracy by turning it into a group project for his club's staff. The hand illustrated cover above was the artwork to the 2004 mix and the liner notes include a brief bio on each of the 21 artists featured in the mix. What will Bruce submit this year? In 1992 the Empty Bottle started out as a cat-ridden hole-in-the-wall bar in Ukrainian Village where you could get a beer for a buck-fifty or less, play pool for 50 cents, and find everything from Monster Magnet to Bill Monroe on the jukebox. Then on Halloween of 1993, the club moved two blocks up the street and threw open the doors to a new, sound-equipped, slightly larger hole. You name it, The Bottle has booked it – hip hop, improvisational jazz, electronic, emo, and the club even hosts a night of rock and wrestling as of late. After ten years, the Bottle shows no signs of slowing. Call 312.255.9454 if you can not attend the party and wish to fax in a bid on a mix. All faxed bids must be received by midnight CST on Tuesday, September 20th,
2005.
