Barry Phipps is a former member of Chicago music group The Coctails and is the President of Tight Ship Records, an "on demand" limited edition record label. In the last year, Tight Ship has released recordings by Thax Douglas, The Lesser Birds of Paradise, The Like Young, Bosco & Jorge, Clyde Federal and others.

This Three CD Box Set is an official Tight Ship release limited to one copy. It is listed in the label catalog and has it's own page on the Tight Ship web site. The three discs were recorded "on the fly" at Barry's North Branch Studio in Chicago. They were mixed straight to tape then dumped in to Pro Tools, where mastering techniques were applied to ensure an optimized and consistent audio experience. The mixes are divided in to four sets: Cocktail Hour, Dinner, Dance and Nightcap. Although the songs shant be revealed, it can be said that there are several tracks that you are not likely to come across elsewhere. The mix runs the gamut from obscure lounge, 60's and 70's singer / songwriter stuff, Funk, New Wave, Garage and more. These sets were culminated D.J. Barry Phipps going through his record collection and pulling stuff that he was truly excited about, or hadn't heard in a while.
