Mixer: Mia Park

Mix Title: Hooks
Mia Park is happy to wear many hats in Chicago's vibrant arts communities.

In Chicago's music scene, Mia plays drums and sings with the female Asian American rock trio, Kim. She also drums and sings with Illinois First!, whose songs are about Illinois state history. She also plays with Rock Mime World and drummed in Tatsu Aoki's Asian American jazz band, "Miyumi Project Big Band".

Mia served as the Asian American Cultural Ambassador for The Old Town School of Folk Music and curates various events including Asian American arts programs at the Chicago Cultural Center.

"Miss Mia" has co-hosted the underground cable music show, Chic A Go Go, for over five years. Mia is published in YELL-OH Girls!, writes music reviews for Roctober Magazine and edits an internet
newsletter called, "Kick Ass", which features local and national information on entertainment, activism and Asian American events.

I kid you not this is not even a fraction of the things on Mia's resume. She reminds me of that old army recruiting commercial about soldiers doing more before 6 am than most people do all day. Mia is a battalion of activity and achievement all to herself.

Mia had this to say about her mix this year:  "This CD has just a few of the hooky-iest pop, rock, country, urban songs that I love.  Please let me know your favorite hooks!  Thanks for donating to a great cause..."

THERE ARE NO ADVANCE TICKET SALES FOR THE MUSIC MIXER. $5 Suggested donation at the door.
